Hi, I’m Lala, Vancouver Curly Hair Specialist.
I was born in São Paulo, Brazil, where I finished cosmetology school and began my journey behind the chair. I started my career in 2016, and by 2018, curls completely stole my heart.
People always ask me, “Why curls?”
Honestly… I feel like curls chose me.
When I first started applying to salons, I sent my résumé everywhere. I told myself I would go wherever someone gave me a chance. Only one salon called me back.
A curly specialist salon.
At that time, I had zero experience with textured hair. I was nervous. But I showed up. I trained on every curl type. I studied. I practiced. I passed their technical test. And they hired me.
That moment changed everything.
What started as chance quickly became purpose.
I fell deeply in love with texture. The movement. The personality. The unpredictability.
The magic of it. But even more than that, I fell in love with the people behind the curls.
I listened to stories of clients who were told their hair was “unprofessional.” Clients who straightened their curls their entire lives. Clients who never saw their hair dried naturally in a salon. Clients who were convinced permanent straightening was the only “beautiful” option.
Those stories stayed with me.
That’s when I realized this wasn’t just hair. This was identity. This was empowerment.
I became obsessed with learning everything I could. I studied textures in my personal time. I attended workshops with renowned professionals. I researched, refined my techniques, and kept pushing myself to understand curls on a deeper level. Because this work matters.
When someone sits in my chair, I’m not just shaping layers. I’m rebuilding confidence. I’m teaching them how to understand their curls at home. How to style them. How to play with them. How to love them. Curls are not meant to be hidden. They are meant to be celebrated.
Over the years, my work grew. My schedule filled. My passion expanded.
Today, I work with double bookings because the demand for curly specialists continues to grow. I work alongside my husband, Renan, who is my associate and right hand in the salon. He assists, supports, prepares, styles, and helps keep everything flowing so each guest feels cared for from start to finish.
Behind the scenes, my mom lovingly sews our satin bonnets and scrunchies for the company. Every piece is made with intention and protection for textured hair.
I am also now the proud owner of Lalalo Hair Care, my own curly hair product line created with everything I have learned through years of working hands on with textured hair. These products were developed to support real curls in real life, helping clients maintain healthy, defined, confident hair at home.
This is not just a business.
This is a family dream built with love, passion, and purpose.
